Jaipur, the city known for its magnificent forts and palaces is also popular for its colourful bazaars. In fact a tour to the pink city is incomplete without shopping. Shopping in the old bazaar at twilight, in the shadows of picturesque City Palace can be a magical experience in this romantic city. Jaipur is one of the finest shopping centres in Rajasthan, known for beautiful prints-specially on cotton fabrics. The pink city is perhaps India's largest centre of precious and semi-precious gems and stones. Tie-and-dye fabrics and sarees, brocades, Sanganer prints, marble statues, ivory carving, stone-set, enamel work, jootis and embroider Jootis, local perfumes and shoes made of camel skin, there is no end to what Jaipur offers to the shoppers.

Jaipur's colourful markets offer great opportunity to shop and enjoy the vibrant culture of the city. The main bazaars in the city are Jauhari Bazaar, Bapu Bazaar, Nehru Bazaar, Chaura Rasta, Mirza Ismail Road and Tripolia Bazar. The shops in these markets sell the precious and semi precious stones, handloom products, ornaments, jewellery, brassware, antiques, textiles and several other items.
Hawa Mahal Area : A large number of shops are located in the Hawa Mahal area. Most of the shops sale Rajasthani 'Rejais'(Quilts), which are weighing from a few hundred grams to a kilogram. Jaipuri Quilts are very much used to reduce the cold effect.
Jauhari Bazaar : In the right side of the Hawa Mahal is the Jauhari Bazaar. The market is one of the best place to buy jewellery, textiles and tie-and-dye items. Two narrow lanes Gopalji Ka Rasta and Haldion Ka Rasta which join the main road has a number of shops selling jewellery.
Bapu Bazaar and Nehru Bazaar : Bapu Bazaar and Nehru Bazaar are close to the
Jauhari Bazaar. Shoppers can buy textiles, scented articles and shoes made
of camel skin.Mirza Ismail Road : The Mirza Ismail Road is located in the south-western part of the city. In the shops many new products are decoratively shown in the new shops. Most popular shopping items are Enamelled pottery, Birdri's many carving articles, Black prints and Bandhuni sarees. One can also visit the Rajasthan Government Emporium Rajasthani or Handloom House which has a good collection of Rajasthani articles.
Tripolia Bazaar and Chaura Rasta : Tripolia Bazaar is close to the old market of Jaipur. This market is known for Brass and carving products. In Chaura Rasta one can shop textiles, utensils, ironware and trinkets.
Other Shopping Areas : Ramganj Bazaar for shoes or jootis, Kishanpol Bazaar for tie and dye textiles, Maniharon Ka Rasta (Tripolia Bazar ) for lac bangles and other items, Achrol House and Subhash Chowk for carpets.

Minakari work : Jaipur is famous for the Minakari work or the enamel work. Minakari is a hand work, done on gold and silver. The local artisans are renowned not only for the purity of the colours but also for its evenness. Jaipur is well known for its brass work, the most popular brass work are lacquered brass and carved brass. Brassware, blue potteries, carpets, durries, and handicrafts items are available at the Rajasthani emporium in Mirza Ismail Road.
Bandhej and Block print : Sanganer and Bagru are two villages near Jaipur, which are known for Bandhej (tie and dye) and Block print. These villages are famous for their delicate floral springs and linear and zigzag stripes in earth colours. Sanganer is also popular for handmade paper and blue pottery. The are a large number of shops near the Hawa Mahal which deal in antiques and pseudo-antiques.
Other Shopping items : Other famous shopping items are Jootis and embroider Jootis called Mojri, Jaipuri quilt, stone and marble carvings, stone and marble carvings, portraits and fine self-check-weave cotton sarees from Kota.
